Make a Fresh Start: Level Up Your Health & Fitness This Year

What better way to support your immunity, elevate your mood, and feel great than to plan and execute better fitness and nutrition? I know it can be overwhelming, and it might not look like what you’ve been able to do in the past. The key to success is consistency. First, determine what might have worked well for you at some point in your life. How might you improve it so you’re more likely to stick with it? Most importantly, identify who in your circle of family and friends will support you in your efforts.

Here are some ideas to get going this year:

  • Get an assessment from a certified coach. This will give you ideas on where to start, and a program that will work for you.

  • Start small. If you don’t have any fitness routine yet, start with 15 minutes of daily mobility work (foam rolling, stretching, range-of-motion). Focus on areas where you feel tight.

  • Start with something you like to do. Walking three times a week? Make it four. Working out online twice a week? Add one more.

  • Target specific areas of concern.

Do you feel achey and tired all the time? Look at your sleep. Begin a relaxing night time routine. Shut off media an hour before bed time, listen to relaxing sounds, or diffuse essential oils.

Are you indulging in sugary snacks, excessive alcohol, or overeating at mealtime? Attack one concern first and make it a habit. Replace one snack with a piece of fruit. Drink a glass of water when you think you’re hungry. Half your meal and wait 10 minutes before getting seconds.

The key is to pick one thing and be consistent about it. Once you have the habit down, you can move on to the next area of concern. You’re in it for the long haul!
